This E&E was a very good review for my Antitrust Class. The material was very well organized and the "cheat sheets" were very helpful in setting up my flow charts when reviewing for my Antitrust Final. It helped clarify some of the more confusing concepts in Antitrust. It's up their with the Contracts and CivPro E&Es.
I found this book to be helpful in creating a general structural understanding of the topic. The book goes into some depth on different economic analysis of substantive areas, but not as deeply as you will likely go in class-so it should not be depended on for that. However, since antitrust has a lot of moving parts, and there is a lot of back and forth on the law, it can be hard to even know where to start. This book really helps to simplify that and at least give you a solid base on how to approach antitrust problems.
Great way to understand Anti-trust law
I think the text is helpful, but the index is horrible. They clearly did not update it from the previous edition or from a previous draft and all of the page numbers are wrong. Very frustrating when you try to find cases.
I love E&Es, but some aren't as good as others. I found this one to be very helpful! (I also recommend the Evidence, CivPro, and Tax E&Es)
Haven't read it yet. Generally In good condition though the cover page is slightly flawed. Not a problem for mere rent.
ANTITRUST: the word alone strikes fear in the heart of most law students. But this Examples & Explanations by Christopher L. Sagers, helps remove some of that fear from a terrifying subject. Sagers begins by giving a broad overview of the topic, almost as if he were trying to assure his reader that it really isn't as fearful of a topic and it sounds.Then Sagers breaks the whole concept down into a two-prong approach to the economic theory behind Anti-Trust. My initial thought was "there is an economic theory behind this?" My eyes began to cross and experience fear. I am a law student, not an economics student, and I was afraid. But no, Sagers anticipated this and he continues to explain theories and material in such a way as to remove the fear from the topic. In fact, he explains the laws, the topics, the politics, everything a law student needs to know about antitrust in an understandable and readable way. This book should be required by professors teaching the course, so that the students get a broad overview that does go into depth, without striking fear into the heart of a 2L.Examples & Explanations: Antitrust
This book is amazing!! It breaks down everything you need to know about antitrust in a very well-organized way! The table of contents is broken down into the various parts, chapters, and sections. The preface gives a nice quick overview of antitrust law. Then, Part I (which is an introduction to antitrust law) gives an overview of the law, including the various statues. It gives a brief history to provide a nice background and discusses the policy of antitrust law. Section 1.4 is called "A crib sheet to the entire law of antitrust." This section is a great snapshot that helps to guide readers about key points in antitrust law.Part II provides a nice solid foundation in economic theory. Chapter 2 is broken into two parts. First, it gives a general overview without using math. The authors refer to this as the "ground rules" explained "intuitively." Second, it expands on the material using a more traditional approach using math (functions, curves, graphs). Chapter 3 supplements basic price theory with economic generalizations. Chapter 4 discusses market power.The remaining parts, chapters, and sections go into further depth about the various statutes and theories. As always, the E&E provides great examples & explanations throughout the book.Overall, a great study aid that really helps make antitrust understandable!
